I seek truth no matter where it leads me. I must keep my writing real, edgy, honest, if I am going to write books for my generation and those after mine.
I have a degree in Comparative World Religions so my writing often explores the sacred and profane elements of human experiences through humorous or a transgressive literary styled fiction.
Some have read my stories and saw something from a different angle and were enlightened.
Some have read my stories and cried, didn’t feel alone and were encouraged.
Some have read my stories and heard themselves laugh for the first time in a long time while reading and were entertained.
Some have read my stories clenched their teeth and were enraged.
It was my goal to do all of these things because boring books are forgettable.
I stand with Wendell Berry and offer:
A Warning to My Readers
Do not think me gentle
because I speak in praise
of gentleness, or elegant
because I honor the grace
that keeps this world. I am
a man crude as any,
gross of speech, intolerant,
stubborn, angry, full
of fits and furies. That I
may have spoken well
at times, is not natural.
A wonder is what it is.
